Milford Twinkles With Lights!

Posted on December 7, 2009
The snow falling added to the ambiance of the annual lighting celebration of the Tree and Star on the Knob this past Saturday at the Community House. The Reverend Ben Willis from the First Presbyterian Church in Milford said an all inclusive prayer and the Dingman Delaware Choir performed holiday selections as everyone enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies. Emcee Matt Dorcas led the children in a countdown as simultaneously at 5:30pm, Milford's Mayor Quinn presided over the official Knob lighting and Milford Lion Bill Harkness presided over the town tree lighting. Then you could hear the crowd cheer as the Milford Fire Department gave Santa Claus a first class ride into town on a fire truck with the sirens and lights on! Santa Claus had a wonderful time listening to the children's holiday wishes and gave them all candy canes. "The children of Milford have been especially good this year!" said a jolly St. Nick. "Please be sure to leave me milk and cookies for when I came back on Christmas Eve!"

The Pike County Chamber of Commerce is grateful to the following for assistance in this wonderful community holiday event: The Milford Business Council, The Town of Milford, The Milford Community House, The Pike County Library, The Milford Fire Department, The Artisan Exchange, Wayne Bank of Milford, Matt Dorcas from Bold Gold Media Group, Rev. Ben Willis from First Presbyterian Church in Milford, The Dingman Delaware Choir and special guest Mr. David Helms.
