Penn State Extension Master Gardener Program Accepting Applications

Penn State Extension in Pike County is now accepting applications for the 2016/2017 Master Gardener program. This program consists of a volunteer training course designed to provide experienced home gardeners with information and skills necessary to share their experience and knowledge with others. Weekly classes will be held on Thursday evenings, from October 6, 2016 to February 23, 2017.

In exchange for 40 hours of instruction, candidates must agree to volunteer 50 hours to Penn State Extension. Volunteer activities currently carried out by Master Gardeners in Pike County include the planning and implementation of the Memorial Garden at the State Police Barracks in Blooming Grove, maintaining the pollinator garden at the Extension Office, staffing the Master Gardener Hotline, and sponsoring educational activities for our community throughout the year.

There is a program fee of $200.00 to cover the cost of training, materials and expenses. Applications are being accepted through September 20, 2016. For more information please contact the Pike County, Penn State Extension office located at 514 Broad Street in Milford, by email at PikeExt@psu.edu, or call 570-296-3400.
