3D Mammography System at Pocono Medical Center’s Bartonsville Healthcare Center Part of National Breast Health Campaign
East Stroudsburg, PA (August 17, 2016) – Hologic, Inc., manufacturer of the Selenia® Dimensions® system’s Genius™ 3D MAMMOGRAPHY™ located within Pocono Medical Center’s Bartonsville Healthcare Center, has a Breast Cancer Education Campaign featuring nine-time Grammy award-winning singer, songwriter and breast cancer survivor Sheryl Crow.
Hologic launched a national campaign in April titled, the Better Mammogram Poll, to educate women about the benefits of the Genius™ 3D MAMMOGRAPHY™ exam. “Bartonsville Healthcare Center offers Genius™ 3D MAMMOGRAPHY™ exams, which are the only clinically-proven, superior breast tomosynthesis system as approved by the FDA,” said Barbarann Carroll, RT (R) (M), Radiology Facility Coordinator at Pocono Medical Center’s Bartonsville Healthcare Center.
"As a Certified Breast Center of Excellence, we are proud to serve as a women's health advocate by distinguishing the Bartonsville Healthcare Center as the region's only comprehensive center for early breast cancer detection," said Priya Sareen, M.D., Section Chief of Breast Imaging, Medical Imaging of Lehigh Valley P.C. The state-of-the-art 3D mammography exam offers radiologists more information than the conventional 2-D mammography exams, allowing for better outcomes – reduces the need for women to come back for further evaluation by 41%.
As the only facility in the region to offer the advanced 3D technology, Pocono Medical Center’s Bartonsville Healthcare Center serves as Monroe County’s epicenter for comprehensive, quality women’s healthcare. “Routine breast cancer screening allows women to be proactive about their breast health, and this advanced technology helps detect a possible breast cancer earlier,” said Jennifer Henry, CRNP, Breast Health Nurse Practitioner at Pocono Medical Center’s Bartonsville Healthcare Center. “Early detection is key to give women the best chance for living a long, healthy life.”
Pocono Medical Center’s Bartonsville Healthcare Center was recently recognized by the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers as a Quality Breast Center of Excellence along with accreditation from the American College of Radiology for mammography and as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence.
