Nurse Practitioner Daniel Harmuth Treating Patients in Hamlin
Daniel Harmuth, board-certified family nurse practitioner, brings a decade of healthcare experience and passion for his work to the Hamlin Family Health Center as the center’s second dedicated walk-in care provider. The Health Center, located at 543 Easton Turnpike, is open seven days a week treating patients for both routine primary and walk-in care such as colds, sprains and minor lacerations.
“Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) is one of the first in our area to embrace the idea of the ‘medical home.’ This idea of patient–focused care that has so many resources together is such a great concept. It allows for greater communication and coordination of patient’s care.” stated Harmuth describing why he chose WMCHC to continue his career. “In our rural community, this model could make a real difference in the lives of patients and their families. I’m excited to be a part of it.”
Harmuth, whose interest in healthcare began at the age of 14 as a volunteer firefighter and later an Emergency Medical Technician by age 16, has a history of service to his neighbors, “I’ve really enjoyed volunteering as a way to support the communities that I’ve lived in,” he stated. Harmuth has been an active member of the Lakeville Fire Company since 2009 when he relocated to Lake Ariel from Colmar, PA where he held the positions of lieutenant, captain and assistant chief for the Colmar Fire Company.
Harmuth received both his Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in nursing from Penn State University, graduating with Highest Distinction. He also holds a post-masters certificate in Geriatric Education and is pursuing a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Harmuth’s professional background includes working as a Registered Nurse at Pocono Medical Center and an adjunct faculty member of both Misericordia University in Dallas, PA and Penn State University in Scranton. He is also a veteran of the United States Navy with six years active duty and four years in the Navy Reserve.
The Hamlin Family Health Center is part of Wayne Memorial Health Centers (WMCHC). In addition to primary and walk-in care, both laboratory and general x-ray services are provided by Wayne Memorial Hospital at the same location seven days a week.
