Parents Face Challenges – A need for Positive Parenting

Parents face many challenges, from infant’s first cry through adolescence to adulthood and beyond. Parenting isn’t easy in today’s world; with love, limits and lots of involvement, parents can have a major influence in developing happy, healthy and well behaved children. Education is the key to learning how to raise successful children, creating competent, confident parents who, in turn, build strong families and communities.

Penn State Extension in Pike County presents Positive Parenting, a university developed parent education workshop, for parents and caregivers of children of all ages. The three session workshop will focus on parent-child communication, nurturing relationships, setting limits and respectful discipline practices.
Research shows that children reared in the Positive Parenting style exhibit positive self-concept, honesty, responsibility, compassion, problem-solving skills, self-control, and acceptance of self and others.

Positive Parenting will be offered on 3 consecutive Tuesdays, from 6-8 PM, beginning September 15, 2015, in the Pike County Administration Building, 506 Broad Street, Milford PA 18337. Registration is $40 per individual. Incentives are available for those who register by September 4, 2015. Registration deadline is September 11, 2015.
