United Way Funds Support Pike County Developmental Center

Reg Worthington and James Baron, Esquire, both of the United Way of Pike County were very pleased to present a check in the amount of $4,000.00 to Liz Torkildsen, Director of the Pike County Developmental Center. These funds will be used for the continued support of adults with disabilities and will help the Center provide their clients an opportunity at achieving their life’s purpose through education, vocational training, social interaction and life skills instruction.

“PCDC participants benefit every day from community support through the United Way. Our services are designed to provide clients with a foundation of confidence through the structure and guidance of our programs helping them to achieve personal goals as happy productive members of society. Currently the 22 PCDC clients volunteer in community organization activities, work part time at vocational training centers and several have moved on to competitive community employment. United Way funds are critical to providing these services”, said Liz Torkildsen, PCDC Director.

“Our United Way contributors and volunteers, realize the need to rise to the challenge and make a difference in life where it is needed most. This is what we mean by Living United and we thank our community champions for their support.” said Jim Baron, Esquire and UWPC Treasurer.

“Giving to United Way is the best way to change lives and help shape our community.
