UNITED WAY ANNOUNCES 12th ANNUAL DAY OF CARING AND 10TH ANNUAL 9-11 MEMORIAL BLOOD DRIVE!
Sue Robbins of the United Way of Pike County announced that the 12th Annual Day of Caring will be on Saturday September 15th at Delaware Valley High School and Wallenpaupack Middle School. The 10th Annual 9-11 Memorial Blood Drive will be held in the DV Middle School Cafeteria beginning at 9am.
The United Way Day of Caring is a day when volunteers join together and travel to local non-profit human service agencies and help clean up, clean out and refresh for the coming months ahead. All around the county you will see many volunteers painting, cleaning, gardening, building and organizing.
Even more importantly, giving and sharing while carrying on the tradition of giving back to the community.
Robbins explained that the Day of Caring starts at the Delaware Valley 9-10 campus with registration at 8:00am. Every volunteer will receive a free tee shirt. The tee shirts are a gift to each volunteer from The Dime Bank. After registration all volunteers are invited to enjoy a hearty breakfast prepared by the Warrior Café. The breakfast is compliments of Orange & Rockland Power, Pike County Light and Power. The actual work day begins at 9 am and will end at 2 pm. Volunteers may take advantage of school bus transportation to some of the agencies, provided by the Delaware Valley School District.
“The Day of Caring is a phenomenal day for the United Way and the entire community. Last year we had almost 300 volunteers. It was amazing to see so many folks come together and help the agencies that serve our friends and neighbors in need. The outpouring of support and the spirit of volunteerism is truly extraordinary.” said, Sue Robbins, UWPC Day of Caring Chairperson.
