Black Bear Film Festival’s Film Salon Entertains, Educates, and Inspires

23 Shorts, 21 Talkback Sessions, 14 Segments, 7 Documentaries, and 5 Presentations presented by Walmart

As any film buff knows, there is more to a movie than what is seen on screen. This year, the Black Bear Film Festival’s Film Salon will go behind the scenes to give festivalgoers a glimpse into the art, techniques, processes, and people who make a film come together.

Each year, the Film Salon showcases works by local, young, and up and coming filmmakers, providing a unique experience for viewers and an important creative outlet for burgeoning talent. New for 2014, all screenings will be followed by entertaining, educational, and informative panel discussions, and Q & A sessions with filmmakers, actors, and industry experts. The Salon will be held Oct. 18-19 at the Pike County Public Library, 119 E. Harford St.

Three Local Walmart stores in Westfall, Middletown, NY, and Rockaway, NJ, which collectively donated $7,500 earlier this month, are the sole sponsors of the 2014 Film Salon.

“We were thrilled that we were able to work with the library again to showcase the Salon,” said Jerry Beaver, Founding President of the Black Bear Film Festival. “It not only provides a great backdrop to screen the films, but also the perfect platform for filmmakers, actors, and experts to discuss their work. The location of the Film Salon only enhances the experience since the library has meaning to the community at large.”

Admission to Salon events is free. Tickets are required due to limited seating and will be available 30 minutes prior to each segment at the front entrance of the Pike County Public Library. Tickets are limited to one per person and all guests must be present in order to receive a ticket. Priority seating is available for Gold Pass holders.

The Salon is hosted in the library’s Community Room. Visit www.blackbearfilm.com for the 2014 Film Salon schedule and information about each presentation.
