WMH Auxiliary Tops Own Record

“This is evidence!” Wayne Memorial Hospital CEO David Hoff pointed to the whopping amount of $150,000 donated by the hospital’s Auxiliary to the hospital on April 15th. It was the sum of the Auxiliary’s past year’s work, and it beat last year’s record donation of $125,000.
“We always say Wayne Memorial Hospital has one of the hardest working and strongest auxiliaries of any hospital in Pennsylvania, maybe the country. And this is evidence!” Hoff finished, adding that he was immensely grateful to the 200-plus members of the Auxiliary.
The amount, spelled out on an oversized presentation check, represented the many fundraisers organized by the Auxiliary over the past year, including its annual Mistletoe Ball, Kentucky Derby and Tribute Concerts, along with profits from bake sales, uniform sales and its two consignment shops, The Other Shop in Honesdale and The Other Shop 2 in Hawley.
In turn, Auxiliary President Martha Wilson complimented the hospital administration for its vision over the last decade and the hospital’s significant growth. Auxilians have been instrumental in that growth. They contributed $570,000 to the last capital campaign which helped build the current Emergency Department and recent support has been directed to funding a mobile mammography program and this year, a helipad to help meet a requirement for a Level IV Trauma designation.
A portion of the check – $25,000 – was given to Wayne Woodlands Manor, Wayne Memorial’s long-term care facility in Waymart, to help build a sunroom for residents.
The check was presented at the hospital’s annual volunteer luncheon at Ehrhardt’s/Silver Birches, Tafton, which honors not only Auxilians but hospital and hospice volunteers, board members, chaplains and others who voluntarily give of their time and energy.
