Two New Board Members for Wayne Health Services
“Growing up in Honesdale, I was always aware of the big role played by Wayne Memorial Hospital in the community,” said Brendan Murray, “so being a part of the Wayne Memorial family is special to me, and I want to help in any way I can.” Murray, a licensed funeral director at Hessling Funeral Home in Honesdale, and Dwight James “Jim” Chapman are the two newest members of the Board of Directors of Wayne Health Services, Inc. Chapman, who is retired, is the former owner of the popular J&J Lounge in Hamlin, which he and his wife Shirley operated for 40 years.
Wayne Health Services, a subsidiary of the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation, owns the Stourbridge Professional Complex at Maple Avenue and Route 6 in Honesdale, as well as the recently-remodeled and re-christened retail store, Wayne Health Pharmacy and Medical Equipment.
“Wayne Health Services is a unique part of Wayne Memorial Health System,” said Chapman, “but its mission is similar: to take care of the people in the Wayne Memorial service area now and into the future, and that’s something I’m very much interested in helping to accomplish. In the case of Wayne Health Services, that means providing exceptional medical equipment and pharmaceutical services.”
Chapman, who resides in Sterling, is a member of the Lake Ariel Lions Club and serves on boards of both the Wayne County Hospital and Facilities Authority and the Wayne Industrial Development Authority. The son of the late Clifton and Dorothy Chapman, “Jim” graduated from Hamlin Elementary School (now home to the Hamlin Family Health Center) and Lake Consolidated High School, Class of ’58. The Chapmans have one daughter, Vicky Botjer, who is currently the Chief Clerk of Wayne County.
Brendan Murray, son of Rebecca and Edward Murray, DPM, graduated Honesdale High School in 1998 and then attended the University of Pittsburgh. Brendan completed studies at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 2003. In addition to Wayne Health Services, Brendan is on the board of the Honesdale Area Jaycees and is an active member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale. He and his wife, the former Megan Rindock, have three daughters – Bridget, Margaret and Keira—who were all delivered at Wayne Memorial Hospital!
Chapman and Murray join Chair Bob Suhosky and members Jerome Casey, DPM; J. Dennis Evans, CPA; Thomas Jenkins; Steven Kiesendahl; William O’Neill; and Sharon Watson, BSN, RN, CWCN, COCN on the board.
“We are pleased to have both Jim and Brendan on board,” said G. Richard Garman, executive director of the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation. “Their skills complement an already committed group of professionals, and their input will be much appreciated.”
