Spirit of Hope Celebration Raises Over $65,000 for Northeast Regional Cancer Institute
The Northeast Regional Cancer Institute board of ambassadors and associate board of ambassadors met in mid- January at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport for a wrap-up meeting of the 2014 Spirit of Hope Celebration. The Ambassadors presented the Cancer Institute with a $65,873 check from this past year’s event.
The Board of Ambassadors, a group of community volunteers, hosted the third annual Spirit of Hope Celebration in November 2014 at Mohegan Sun Pocono. More than 300 people were in attendance. The event featured cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, music and a live and silent auction.
The feature of the celebration was a Tribute to Courage, which honored two prominent local twin brothers, Curt Stevens & Phil Stevens. Curt has fought battles with cancer.
Proceeds from the event benefited the Cancer Institute’s Patient Navigation Program. This program helps low income and un/underinsured individuals in northeast Pennsylvania get their recommended colorectal, breast, and cervical cancer screenings.
