JUNE 1st THE HOTEL FAUCHERE WELCOMES PIKE COUNTY’S FIRST WINE FESTIVAL

The historic Hotel Fauchere is sponsoring Pike County’s first Food and Wine Faire in partnership with Upstate Wine Country, producers of quality wine festivals, beer festivals and other events celebrating Agritourism throughout Eastern Pennsylvania and Central New York.

The festival offers area residents the opportunity to become acquainted with a number of Pennsylvania wineries. “Pennsylvania wines are up-and-comers and starting to attract national attention. I’ve been really pleased with how the industry has developed in recent years,” said Executive Chef Christopher Bates, who last year won the title Best Young Sommelier in the World 2012 and just returned from winning TopSomm 2013, the most respected Sommelier Competition in America.

The festival will feature an outdoor Garden Party and a series of indoor Meet the Chef/Meet the Vintner, food and wine pairings and workshops at the Hotel Fauchere.

The Hotel Fauchere, founded in 1852 is located at 401 Broad Street (Rtes. 6 & 209) in downtown Milford, Pennsylvania. The hotel features 16 guest rooms, two restaurants, a patisserie/cafe and a day spa.

Upstate Wine Country, the event’s presenters, will gather more than 20 vendors featuring an assortment of Pennsylvania’s wines plus delectable morsels, handcrafted items, jewelry and more. The Faire will be held from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm on the grounds directly behind the hotel (along Blackberry Alley, between E. Catherine Street and E. High Street).

Participating wineries will offer both samplings and sale of their products. Participants include Antler Ridge Winery (with tasting rooms in Bradford County, Montgomery County, Pike County and Wayne County); Bartolai Winery(Luzerne County); Blue Mountain Vineyards & Cellars (Lehigh County); Capra Collina Winery (Lackawanna County); Feronne Family Winery (Lackawanna County); Galen Glen Winery (Schuylkill

County); Pinnacle Ridge Winery (Berks County); Sand Castle Winery (Bucks County); and Winterland Winery (Sullivan County).
