Free Diabetes Self Management Classes Offered in Two Counties
Free Diabetes Self Management Programs (DSMP) consisting of three consecutive classes each will be offered in both Waymart and Lords Valley during the month of March.
Waymart classes will be held March 3, 10 and 17 from 5 pm to 7 pm in the Wayne Woodlands Manor Community Room, 37 Woodlands Drive, Waymart. A duplicate series will be offered in the Pike County Medical Center at Wayne Memorial Outpatient Services office, Route 739, Lords Valley on March 12, 19 and 26.
This comprehensive program instructed by Wayne Memorial’s Certified Diabetes Educator Carol Kneier, MS, RD, LDN, CDE, covers medications, meal planning, glucose monitoring and exercise benefits. Classes, based on the National Standards of the American Diabetes Association, are ideal for individuals newly diagnosed with diabetes, pre-diabetes or pre-existing diabetes in need of tighter control.
All classes are free and open to the public. Patients are encouraged to bring a support person. Pre-registration is required by calling 570-253-8149 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Additional sessions will also be held in Carbondale, Vandling and Hamlin during the spring. All DSMPs are presented with support from The Blue Ribbon Foundation of Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
