SAFE HAVEN TO MOVE OFFICES

This year, Safe Haven begins an exciting plan to expand the quality and scope of its services.

Since 1999, the agency has housed its direct service programs at 500 West Harford Street in Milford. Effective July 1, 2013, Safe Haven of Pike County, Inc. will move to 402 Broad Street in Milford, the present location of the law offices of Klemeyer, Farley, & Bernathy, L.L.C.; who will be moving their offices next door.

Safe Haven believes this transition will put the agency in a position to offer clients a more professional venue, greater space for advocacy, closer proximity to the Pike County Courthouse, and yet still maintain a warm and inviting environment. The agency anticipates no interruption in services, which includes a 24-hour hotline, one-on-one and group supportive counseling, community education, youth programs, and short-term emergency shelter.

"Beyond our mission, we consider ourselves stewards of the trust and respect of the people of Pike County we serve," notes Ms. Hines. "This move is an investment in our future and a show of confidence in the work of the agency, the first step in what we expect to be a remarkable few years of growth and expansion." Safe Haven is proud to be working with the Dime Bank to finance the agency's future.

From January 1 through December 31, 2012, Safe Haven of Pike County, Inc. provided 1,176 hours of crisis intervention, counseling, and support groups to 722 survivors of domestic and sexual violence, including 74 children. During that time, the agency offered 348 days of safe shelter to 61 women and children in flight from dangerous and abusive circumstances. Perhaps most importantly, Safe Haven delivered its message of non-violence and individual dignity to 3,348 students last year, so that the next generation of Pike County residents may live free from abuse.
