Kids interested in having fun and learning something new can join 4-H clubs and activities this spring and summer
All boys and girls age 8 through 18 are welcome in 4-H. The annual membership fee of $20 is good for any and all open clubs. Club members work on projects with other children their own age, in a group setting, with screened adult club leaders.
Kids use their Head, Heart, Hands and Health to learn new skills, provide community service, and experience leadership. In addition to our established clubs for archery, horses, knitting, arts and crafts, we introduce the following new clubs:
4-H Sewing Club: For kids age nine and up and their guardians. Learn the basics of sewing, how to use a sewing machine and create your own fashion and home décor. The first meeting is Friday June 5th at St. Vincent’s Church in Dingmans Ferry from 4:30 pm-6pm. The club will meet the first and third Fridays of the month. Bernadette Guerra is the leader.
4-H Gardening Club: Learn about the science of growing plants and harvest something yummy for your dinner table. The club will be meeting for the first time Saturday, May 19th at 6pm at the Smith-Harker Community Gardens in Delaware Township. Children need to be age eight or older. Penn State Master Gardener, Angela Williams, is the leader.
4-H will also be hosting the following day camps for summer fun and extra-curricular activities:
4-H Wildlife and Archery Adventure: June 26 and 27, from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM, at Lehman Park in Bushkill. Kids, age 10 and older, can participate on Certified archery instructors will teach children the basics of archery, safety and accuracy. Wildlife activities will include animal habitat, tracking and all about Pennsylvania wildlife. Registration fee is $35; Currently enrolled 4-H members discounted to $20.
4-H Science Seekers: July, 7, 8 and 9, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, at Lehman Park in Bushkill. Children, age 8 to 12, interested in science will enjoy topics that include rocketry and aerospace, forensic science and kitchen science. Children will get a chance to solve the case of the missing millionaire, extract DNA from strawberries and build and launch rockets. Registration fee is $35; Currently enrolled 4-H members discounted to $20.
Blast – Off with Water Rockets!: July 16, 2015, from 9 AM – 1:00 PM, at Dingman Township Park on Log Tavern Road. Rain date July 17. Blast – Off will be offered to children ages 8 to 13. Learn the science and technology to construct and launch your own rocket. Registration fee is $10; Currently enrolled 4-H members discounted to $5.
