Daily mansion tours, plein air painting and a free outdoor screening of a new environmental film are planned for the month of June at Grey Towers National Historic Site, 122 Old Owego Turnpike, Milford, PA
Thursday, June 6 from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM, FREE: Come Paint with Me 2013 Season Kick-Off:
This free plein air painting program is open to the public. Bring your own materials; Grey Towers provides the inspiration! This program is non-instructional. Park in the field on Old Owego Turnpike and meet at Grey Towers' Main Entrance Gate for orientation (Visitor Pavilion in inclement weather). No reservations needed. Watch as the Lost Art Lacers of North New Jersey practice the art of lacemaking. Learn about the Pinchot lace collection.
Saturday, June 15, 9am, FREE, Driving tour of Common Waters Locations:
Join us on a driving tour of privately owned forested properties located within the Upper Delaware River Basin and learn how participation in the Common Waters Fund helps landowners conserve and manage their forests. Learn how healthy forests in this region provide clean drinking water for more than 15 million people downstream and how the health and existence of these forests are threatened by the pressures of development. Saturday, June 15, at Dusk, FREE, Outdoor Film Screening: Seeking the Greatest Good: The Conservation Legacy of Gifford Pinchot
An original WVIA documentary, Seeking the Greatest Good: The Conservation Legacy of Gifford Pinchot, highlights Pinchot's philosophy of natural resource conservation through sustainable use and how that legacy continues today. Rain or shine in our outdoor amphitheater or our tented terrace area (bring a picnic dinner, blankets and/or lawn chairs). Sponsored by the Grey Towers Heritage Association, Pinchot Institute for Conservation and the US Forest Service. Funding provided by the Orange and Rockland Utilities Community Fund.
Regular tours of the Grey Towers mansion and grounds are offered every day from 11 am to 4 pm through the end of October. Guided tours bring visitors through the first floor museum of the mansion and the gardens. On weekends, a special 10 am tour and 4 pm tour brings visitors to all three floors of the mansion.
