Lula Wiles and The Good Seeds to play July concert in the Park!

Lula Wiles and The Good Seeds to play Music in the Park free concert July 10th!
Hot on the heels of a hugely successful Kick-Off Concert, with over 400 residents and visitors in attendance, Music in the Park is looking forward to the second concert of the season, featuring the amazing Lula Wiles on July 10th!
Lula Wiles is an acoustic trio of songwriters and multi-instrumentalists. Their songs combine folk traditions with a distinctly modern sensibility. Combined with their effervescent vocal harmonies, deep musical chemistry, and evocative arrangements, they create a live show that resonates like a whiskey slap to the heart. Red Line Roots says the band has "a delicate balance between feverous passion and harmonious light and charm and grace. It's organic and raw in a way that is honest and real… It's just plain beauty incarnate."
Lula Wiles began a Kickstarter campaign to release their first CD and was able to successfully put it out there for the world to enjoy on May 27th of this year. They have been traveling on a whirlwind tour around the country promoting the new release.
Whether listening to the soulful sounds of Lay Me Down or the foot stomping frolic of One More Night, Lula Wiles is an enjoyable experience.
Opening for Lula Wiles is The Good Seeds. Originally hailing from Australia, New Zealand, and Serbia, these amazing performers (they refer to themselves as songbirds) have made their nests in upstate New York. Drawing ingredients from modern-indie and time-honored folk music, a handful of country, a pinch of bluegrass, and a sprinkling of pop, they focus on strong song writing and vocal harmony, with their talented guitarist Nemanja raising the music to higher levels.

About the performers

Lula Wiles
A Lula Wiles show is like a whiskey-slap to the heart. Gathered around one microphone, Isa Burke, Ellie Buckland, and Mali Obomsawin pass around instruments and frontwoman duties with style and ease. Their effervescent vocal harmonies, deep musical chemistry, and evocative arrangements create a dynamic and spirited live show. Lula Wiles are equally at home in a rowdy bar of two-steppers, a sweltering midsummer festival stage, or a quiet candlelit club. They bring diverse influences to original songs that combine tradition with a distinctly modern sensibility. Their repertoire spans from centuries-old Appalachian ballads to classic country to contemporary Americana songwriting. All the members of Lula Wiles grew up in Maine in musical families, and they began playing music together as kids at Maine Fiddle Camp. One by one, they each found their way to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music. Isa and Ellie (both on vocals, fiddle, and guitar) began performing as a duo in April 2013, and Lula Wiles was born when Mali (bass, vocals) joined the band a year later. Now based in Boston's thriving and close-knit roots music community, Lula Wiles have performed at premier festivals and clubs throughout the Northeast, including Club Passim, One Longfellow Square, the Sinclair, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, Ossipee Valley Music Festival, Fresh Grass Festival, and Tweed River Music Festival. They were also selected as Official Showcase Artists for the 2016 Folk Alliance International conference. Their debut album, released May 27, 2016, features eleven original songs that span from acoustic ballads to Cajun barroom swagger to modern indie-folk, all anchored by rich vocal harmonies and focused clearly on delivering the song above all else. As songwriters, these young women navigate hope and heartbreak with clever lyrics and fearless honesty. All proficient multi-instrumentalists, the three women of Lula Wiles are each uniquely powerful in their own right, but combined, they are a force to be reckoned with.

The Good Seeds

These songbirds are creating uplifting, authentic music for the heart and soul. From Australia, New Zealand, and Serbia, they’ve made nests in New York, and have formed a strong bond over song craft, singing and harmonizing, with voices that blend so smoothly they can't tell themselves apart at times.

Drawing ingredients from modern-indie and time-honored folk music, a handful of country, a pinch of bluegrass, and a dash of pop, they focus on strong song-writing and vocal harmony. Lyrically rich in meaning and metaphor, they traverse the micro to the macro-cosmic, the trials of life, living good and simple, social commentary, human rights, modern heroes, and environmental preservation...topics truly comfortable and cherished in the folk tradition.

With both Kate and Katy on guitar, keys, and percussion, theirs are simple, laid back arrangements, while their stylistically diverse guitarist Nemanja (aka Nemo) brings a force of rhythm and energy to the duo that drives the music into your heart, and feet.

Absolutely vital to their art philosophies, they cultivate their inner world to make sure the music gives enriching and positive vibes to their listeners. Think farm to table—you want to know the food you eat doesn't contain any added nastiness—they say they want the music they prepare to be free of negative baggage and lift you up.

Developing their performance in upstate New York, they call Beacon, NY their musical godmother because of the town's passion for folk music.

The Good Seeds are based in Mount Hope, New York.
