Weight Training for Older Adults
Each year, we learn more about the benefits of staying physically active. Staying strong and vital during older adulthood, by doing regular strengthening exercises, is essential to help prevent frailty. Regular weight training effects muscle, bone, posture, balance, coordination and mobility in positive ways! Regular weight training also reduces risk of injury from everyday activities.
Experts in exercise science at Tufts University developed Strong Women/Growing Stronger (SW/GS) for adults age 40+. SW/GS is offered through Penn State Extension in Pike County. This is a 12 week, low cost program, beginning July 12, 2016, for men and women. The cost is just $90.
