Upper Delaware GLBT Center Announces New Executive Director and Newly Elected Board Members

The Upper Delaware GLBT Center (UDGLBT) Board of Directors announced changes to its board effective June 14, 2015.
Cary J. Giacalone, who joined the UDGLBT as Secretary/Treasurer and Chair of the Planning Committee in 2012, has been elected Executive Director and President. He replaces Patty Tomaszewski who has been Executive Director and President since the inception of the UDGLBT in 2009.
The Board of Directors would like to thank Patty Tomaszewski for her vision to create an organization which would connect and provide a support system for LGBTQ individuals in the Upper Delaware area. The UDGLBT's efforts to foster acceptance and promote understanding of the unique concerns of the community have been successful. With the assistance of previous/current board members, including Cindy Stine, Arnold Green, Bailey Harman, Lora Wiley, Wendy Kaplan and Cary Giacalone, Patty's initial goals were accomplished and much more.
Cary and his husband, Kris Jarmann have called Milford home since 2010. Cary worked in the Banking industry for over 38 years where his major focus was communications, sales management, training and customer service. His experience from running The Bank of New York’s public relations department and being the manager of 50 bank branches will be integral in helping the UDGLBT in its effort to expand and reach new heights.
Cary was an original volunteer in one of the first HIV volunteer programs (Long Island AIDS Project) in 1985 working both a hotline and as a buddy to those living with HIV/AIDS. He also ran the group Gay Circles and volunteered as a peer counselor at Identity House in New York. He was also on the marketing committee for United Way of Long Island and chaired other successful philanthropic events during his tenure at the Bank.
Michael Gillespie and Jack O’Leary have also joined the Board; and current directors Cindy Stine and Wendy Kaplan have both been elected to additional terms. Bailey Harman continues to serve along with them.
Michael Gillespie has been a resident of Vernon, NJ for the last 27 years. He currently serves as the Artistic Director for Cornerstone Playhouse in Sussex. For the past 17 years, Michael has been a Benefits Administrator with the Bank of America. He specializes in Expat Benefits.
Jack O’Leary his wife, Debi, and their beautiful daughter’s, Shaleleigh (9) and Shannon (6) have been part of the Matamoras community for over 15 years. Jack, a licensed master plumber, is a lifelong member of the United Association of Plumbers and Steamfitters. He proudly serves as a School Board Director for the Delaware Valley School District.
