Independence Day Vendor Fair & Fireworks Event to Bring Together Matamoras Community

Matamoras Recreation will present a day of fun, family, and community on Saturday, July 6 thanks to the tireless work of a group of motivated volunteers. The event, set to begin at 3 p.m., will take place at Airport Park, 701 Avenue S, and will include various vendors, a tree dedication, a children’s heroes hut, chili cook-off, live music, a veterans honor acknowledgement, and a car, truck, and bike show with special guest, Ed Almquist. The day’s festivities will culminate with a fireworks display donated by Phantom Fireworks.

The Matamoras Independence Day Vendor Fair & Fireworks event’s theme, “Saluting our American Heroes,” speaks to the spirit of Independence Day. While admission is free, all profits will support the VALOR Clinic Foundation. VALOR, an acronym for Veterans Assisted Living Outreach, seeks to provide veterans with shelter and medical care.

The festivities will kick off with opening ceremonies at 3 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Park and include special guest speakers Senator Lisa Baker, Valor Clinic Founder Mark Baylis, and District Magisterial Judge Deborah Fischer as Master of Ceremonies.

“This event will bring our community together in celebration of all of those who have helped protect our life, liberty, and happiness,” said Fischer. “I know my family and I are looking forward to it.”

Committee members include co-chairs JoAnn Featherman and Ami Greiner, Holly Covart, Bessy Vega, Luann Genova, Laura McCollum, Kris Denella, Stephanie Fells, Christina Weber, Peter Sigreto, and John Newhall.

Armed Forces Sponsors: Fort Knox Self Storage, Milford Chrysler, Village Diner, Precision Landscaping, Eckes Auto Body, The Grill, Escape RV, R.H.
