Meet the Scientists - Aquatic Research
Join two environmental scientists from Miami University
of Ohio, Jennie Brentrup and Taylor Leach, to
learn about aquatic research projects taking place
on Lake Lacawac. In this session, you will learn about
the tools these researchers use to test the effects of
climate change on lake ecosystems. You may get wet, so
come prepared! Fee $7 (members $5). Reservations

Owls of Pennsylvania
Join a National Park Service Ranger to learn about
the different owls found right here in Pennsylvania! There
are ten species of owl that reside in Pennsylvania, although
some are rarer to see than others. Participants in
this hour seminar will learn about owls and their habitats,
behaviors, nutrition, and how to find and identify the different
species of owls. FREE.

Moonlite Paddle on Lake Lacawac
Join the Delaware Highlands at Lacawac Sanctuary
for a moonlight paddle on Lake Lacawac. This outing is
perfect for people who love the outdoors and are not
afraid of paddling in the dark under a full moon. Boats,
paddles and lifejackets will be provided. Due to the
delicate balance of Lake Lacawac’s ecosystem, only the
sanctuary boats are permitted on the lake, so space is
limited. Call 570-689-9494. FREE.

Zane Grey Festival
Join the NPS and Zane Grey’s West Society at the
Zane Grey Museum in Lacawacsan.. The Zane Grey
Festival is geared towards fun for the entire family with
many activities events for children and adults. FREE.

In Search of Pennsylvania’s Imperiled
Reptiles and Amphibians
Marlin Corn, from the Mid- Adlantic Center for Herpetology
and Conservation (MACHAC), will give a short
slide presentation about some of Pennsylvania’s rarest
amphibians and reptiles, and some of the conservation
efforts that MACHAC is involved in to help save them.
There will be an introduction to the new state- wide
Pennsylvania Amphibian and Reptile Survey (PARS) that
MACHAC is spearheading in partnership with the Pennsylvania
Fish and Boat Commission. After the presentation,
participants will have the opportunity to participate
in a field survey to document reptiles and amphibians
encountered on the Lacawac Preserve. Fee $7 (members $5).

Burden on Society
What began as an exchange of musical ideas after a
chance encounter has become an entertaining, pleasing
musical collaboration for all to enjoy. When not working
as a recording studio team, Ryan McDonald and Glen
Scandur entertain music lovers with a range of instruments
including 6 & 12 string guitar, acoustic, slide and
electric guitars, bass, mandolin, banjo, harmonica and
vocals. Their show will feature a range of favorites from
blues, 50’s, rock, and reggae through their own unique
compositions. Come be entertained by two masters in
Lacawac’s Carriage House! Tickets: $12 (members $10).

Arts Alive - Classical Music Fund Raiser
w/ Edward Wargo and Jay Steveskey
A Lacawac musical evening featuring The Wargo
Steveskey Flute and Guitar Duo brings together a
shared passion for these highly expressive instruments
to explore the beautiful and diverse repertoire for
flute and guitar. Flutist Edward Wargo is an active
performer and teacher who is currently on the faculty
of Marywood University. His solo and chamber music
performances have been broadcast on WVIA-TV and
WVIA-FM. Classical Guitarist Jay Steveskey also keeps
a busy performing and teaching schedule. He has been
featured on WVIA-FM and Scranton Today, is founder
and president of the CLassical Guitar Society of Northeastern
Pennsylvania and runs the Fiddle Lake Classical
Guitar School in Susquehanna County, PA. Performance,
Q&A, and meet and greet are followed by an optional
formal sit down dinner in the beautiful old dining room
of the lodge. Reserve early. Show tickets may be sold at
the door also but only if space permits.

The Young Geezers x 3!
This charming and melodic folk, gospel and bluegrass
trio have been filling the house here at Lacawac for the
past four years. Enjoy a collection of America’s greatest
music! Something new, something old, and something different
each time they visit! An evening of America’s musical
roots done in fine harmony and played unplugged.

An Afternoon of Gypsy Jazz
w/ La Lava Jiango
La Lava Jiango fuses traditional Gypsy Jazz with
modern elements derived from Funk, The Blues, a little
bit of Rock, and other Jazz styles. This guitar duo serves
shock and awe with some blistering guitar lines, while
also providing a danceable atmosphere with funky,
upbeat rhythms. Tickets: $12 (members $10).
