2/9/16 – Technology Tuesdays: Ag Digesters 101 free online workshop, 8:30 -10:00 AM (EDT/EST). This is part of a series that includes presentations on dairy farm facilities design, dairy cattle behavior, nutrition, financing and labor. Controlled anaerobic (oxygen free) digestion of animal manure is a way to treat manure to prevent foul odor production while generating a usable energy product. Under the right conditions, liquid manure will break down into bio-gas and a low-odor effluent. This webinar will focus on the basics of how an ag digester works, and possible uses for the bio-gas produced. The presenter is John Tyson, Penn State Extension Agricultural Engineer. Native plants are often already on our local landscapes, but management can be critical to their maintenance as well as the general habitats in which they occur. This presentation will focus on various native plants and their importance to wildlife, but also the habitat management techniques we can apply to enhance, establish, and maintain them.
