US Forest Service Seeks Feedback on Proposed Fee Increase

Public input is sought on a proposal to raise interpretive tour fees at Grey Towers National Historic Site, Milford, PA.
The US Forest Service is proposing raising fees, which were last increased in 2008, by $2. Under the new fees, tours would cost $8 per person; $7 for seniors (62 and over); and $5 for youth (12-17). Children under the age of 12 would remain free of charge. School, scout and other youth groups would remain free. At least two fee free days would still be offered each season. The grounds would remain free and open to pedestrians from dusk to dawn.
The $1 per person discount for groups larger than 20 will be eliminated. An annual frequent visitor pass will be made available for $20 per person.
“We are excited to show off the improvements in the programs and facilities at Grey Towers,” said Allison L. Stewart, Grey Towers Director. “While we have been able to delay any increase in fees for as long as possible, unfortunately the economy has made the cost of doing business more expensive for everybody.”
“The increase is as small as possible while at the same time, we hope that visitors will find the expanded opportunities at Grey Towers and improvements well worth their investment,” Ms. Stewart added.
A survey of similar facilities in the tri-state region showed entry fees ranging from $5 to $14 per person.
A 30-day public response period will end March 15, 2013. Responses can be made in writing via email at or by mail to: Grey Towers Visitor Services, PO Box 188, Milford, PA, 18337. For more information please call 570-296-9672.
