Volunteers needed to support Tri-State Homeless Shelter.
Friends, please offer this opportunity to all your influence.
Safe Haven is very supportive of the amazing efforts of all our tristate partners, and our Pike partners in the battle against homeless and those that suffer in the colder months. On the 11th November, Calling All Angels, organized a meeting of all the partners above, and we gathered, with not much public support, but partner passion and planning energy. Next time, I hope that there are three times the amount of people present to find out what the homeless picture is like and what is here in Pike that cares for our homeless. The definition as Kelly Gaughan, mentioned at the United Way dinner, is large and includes more that living in a tent structure. One of our staff is a member of the http://www.monroehomelesscoc.org/ and has enabled us to widen our referral resources for those homeless and vulnerable with domestic violence or sexual assault in their lives.
It is an amazing effort and success that the Church of St Peter's Lutheran in Port Jervis accomplishes for those that are outdoors. We have hopes that one day Milford will have a warming station and join in the efforts to take care of the many that end up homeless: in cars, in homes without heat and electric, water, or living outside, meaning outside.
Rally support : Sunday Dec 3:
Thank you to make your residents and friends aware that we make use of the public transportation in PJ for our commuting population from Pike outwards and the rally would be a good one to let the community know to join in this Sunday. And to go take the training to be a volunteer. Last year, after the station closed, the church organization did a really smart offering to all volunteers. Safe Haven was asked to come and present our volunteering needs to a group of dedicated 135 dedicated volunteers, and children at the church. The reason being that after the month of March or so, the volunteers are available and we were able to explain what we do, and offer opportunities.
