VOLUNTEER VICTIM ADVOCATES WANTED and The Art of Kindness 2015
Safe Haven of Pike County, Inc. is proud to offer an amazing training opportunity for volunteers to become Victim Advocates for our agency. We are looking for compassionate and caring people to act as volunteers.
Victim Advocates help survivors of traumatic victimization on their road to recovery and healing by providing them with direct emotional support, information on the criminal justice system, resources in the community, as well as crisis counseling.
Safe Haven’s Victim Advocates help us to provide free and confidential services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other serious crimes both in person at our office and through our hotline. Applicants are required to complete criminal and child abuse background checks prior to service.
The 2015 Volunteer Advocate training class will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-9:00pm, starting April 1 and ending May 28. Participants will also be asked to complete some online training prior to the conclusion of the class.
If you are interested in a rewarding volunteer opportunity helping victims of crime and promoting social justice, consider becoming a Volunteer Advocate for Safe Haven of Pike County, Inc. To register, or for more information, please contact Myia Woodson, Outreach Advocate for Safe Haven at (570) 296-2827 ext. 205 or via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
