Cpl. Bryon K. Dickson, III Memorial Garden
Penn State Pike County Master Gardeners, a not-for-profit, will be constructing a garden in memory of Cpl. Bryon K. Dickson, III who was killed by a sniper at the Blooming Grove Barracks on September 12, 2014. The garden will be located at the Blooming Grove Barracks on Rt. 402 and will be constructed by the volunteers of Penn State Pike County Master Gardeners. A variety of perennials will be used to create a pollinator garden. The Master Gardeners will work with the Blooming Grove Barracks and Pennsylvania State Police to obtain Pollinator Garden certification.
Construction of the garden will begin this spring, with a planned dedication on Sept 12, 2015. It is hoped that local vendors will be generous when called upon by Penn State Pike County Master Gardener volunteers to donate products and services to the construction of the garden.
As there will be more expenses than local vendors may be able donate, the public may also donate by check, made payable to “PSCE Program Account,” sent to Penn State Extension, Cpl. Dickson Memorial Garden, 514 Broad Street, Milford, PA 18337.
The Penn State Pike County Master Gardeners are volunteers trained by Penn State Extension, College of Agricultural Sciences, and complete yearly volunteer and continuing education requirements.
