Committees

The chamber welcomes and encourages its members to actively participate in various activities of the organization. A good way to get involved is to volunteer for committee work. Descriptions of many committees are below: call the office 570-296-8700 and volunteer some time.

Ambassador Program
The Ambassadors program was designed to encourage active participation in the chamber of commerce by visiting members at their businesses, welcoming new members to the chamber, attending grand openings and sending cards inviting new members to join a chamber committee.
In conjunction with the chamber office the Ambassadors program will assist with the planning and implementation of two annual Business Card Exchanges. The Business card exchanges are usually two held in June and December. Occasionally the business card exchanges are joint ventures with other area Chambers. These events are intended to be fun opportunities for area business people to get to know one another.

Business Education Committee
The mission of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce Business Education Committee is to promote the development of local businesses through continuing education by identifying relevant educational needs and developing learning opportunities. The committee also seeks to provide forums in which business leaders and residents can come together to discuss broad issues that impact not only the business community but also the area’s quality of life.

Community Awards Committee
Helping to plan and implement the annual Community Awards Banquet. Some fifteen area non-profit organizations come together to celebrate special volunteers and the good works of their organizations. The Chamber produces a color brochure describing the contributions of each honoree, distributed by the Pike County Dispatch.

Golf Outing Committee
Helping to plan and implement the annual fund-raiser for the Chamber, a share of the proceeds also go to a scholarship fund and United Way of Pike County. Committee members solicit corporate and tee sponsors as well as plan the day of golf and the awards dinner which follows. This event is a joint venture with the Pike County Builders Association.
